SHAH ALAM, Oct 21 — Police detained three suspects in connection with alleged threats sent to Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanathan through short service messages (SMS) on October 16 and yesterday, by someone claiming to be a member of a secret society.
“The first suspect was detained at 5.15pm yesterday in Hulu Selangor while two others were detained in Tanjung Malim at 4.50am today. Police also seized 10 handphones from the suspects,” he told reporters at the Selangor Police Headquarters, here, today.
The suspects, aged between 35 and 43, would be remanded until Thursday, he said.
Mohd Shukri advised members of the public to refrain from sending SMS that can be offensive or deemed a threat because it is an offence under the law. — Bernama
