KOTA BARU, Oct 21 — The Kelantan PAS government has admitted that it still refers to former mentri besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat on managing the state as the party stalwart is still the state PAS commissioner.
Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said they still held weekly meetings with Nik Aziz (picture) although the PAS spiritual leader does not hold any post in the state’s administration.
“We have our weekly forum with Tok Guru (Nik Aziz), besides the daily meetings with all the leaders who still remain until the PAS Muktamar (General Assembly) at the end of this year.
“There may be some changes (after the muktamar) but at this point, the current leadership (in Kelantan) remains,” he said after opening the ‘23 Years of Kelantan Developing With Islam” celebration at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium grounds, here, today.
Nik Aziz stepped down as Kelantan mentri besar after the 13th General Election in May this year, after holding the post for over 20 years since PAS came into power in Kelantan in 1990.
On the Sungai Limau state seat by-election in Kedah, Ahmad said Kelantan PAS would be sending four election machinery groups to assist the party there.
The Sungai Limau by-election will be held on November 4 after the seat fell vacant with the death of its incumbent assemblyman Tan Sri Azizan Abdul Razak on September 26. — Bernama
