Police detain man for luring missing students into forest

BALING, Oct 17 — Police have detained a 39-year-old man who brought four students from Kampung Bukit Rawa, Sedim to the Gunung Inas Forest Reserve near here on the evening of Aidiladha on Tuesday.

Baling acting police chief ASP Md Nazir Osman said the man was apprehended in his family house in Kampung Sungai Buluh, Karangan near here at 12.30pm.

The man was believed to have brought the four students into the forest at Bukit Wang Kerbau near the foothill of Gunung Inas here on Tuesday. The four students who were reported missing, were later found safe yesterday evening.

Mohd Hafiz Ridzuan, 14, Ahmad Mohamad Md Dahari, 11, and Rohaizat Jamaluddin, 10, were found safe at the Lubuk Buluh waterfall at 6.45pm about six kilometres from the mountain foothill.

Another victim, the sister of Ahmad Mohamad, Aina Nadia, 13 was found unconscious and was sent to Kulim Hospital for treatment.

Residents and parents of the four students were relieved with the capture of the man who tricked the four students under the pretext of taking the students to the forest to trap monkeys. — Bernama
