GEORGE TOWN, Oct 17 — A man today pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here to two charges of using a symbol not approved by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) and posing as a member of Kedah royalty in October last year.
Roshidi, who was represented by lawyer Muhd Yahya Zakaria, was charged with using the Pertubuhan Amal Kebajikan Islamiah Malaysia (Pakim Diraja or Serampang Tiga) symbol without the approval of RoS on October 23, 2012 at the banquet hall of Cititel, here.
He was charged under Section 50(3) of the Societies Act 1966, which provides for a jail term of up to three months or a fine not exceeding RM3,000.
Roshidi was also charged with duping Ooi Ten Seng, 33, by posing as Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Putera Roshidi Tunku Fadzil, at the same place and time.
For this alleged offence, he was charged under Section 419 of the Penal Code which carries a jail sentence of up to seven years or a fine or both, upon conviction.
