ALOR SETAR, Oct 17 — Kedah police will mobilise its manpower to patrol areas in the Yan district, particularly the Sungai Limau state constituency beginning tomorrow in the run up to the state constituency by-election on November 4.
He said vehicles from the nearest district police headquarters would be used to assist the Yan district police especially in patrolling the more densely populated areas.
“I have also instructed that mobile police stations be placed in three zones and venues which have become a focus of political parties in holding ceramah.
“We will also add the number of kiosks to control the by-election process,” he told reporters at the Kedah Contingent Police Headquarters, here today.
The Election Commission has fixed October 23 for nomination day and November 4 for polling.
The Sungai Limau state seat fell vacant following the death of incumbent assemblyman Tan Sri Azizan Abdul Razak, who was also the former Kedah mentri besar on September 26. — Bernama
