KOTA KINABALU, Oct 17 — A four-storey hotel in Kudat was almost destroyed in a fire late this evening.

Sabah Fire and Service Department public relations officer Mohd Affendy K. Ramin said an emergency call about the fire was received at 5.54pm.

Two fire engines from the Kudat Fire and Rescue Station and one from Kota Marudu with 25 firemen were ordered to the scene, he said in a statement here.

He said the fire was placed under control at 8.27pm with the help of 11 volunteer firemen from the Kampung Air Fire and Rescue Volunteer team. 

He said six victims who were injured in the bid escape from the fire were being treated at the Kudat Hospital.

The cause of the fire was still being investigated, Mohd Affendy added. — Bernama
