KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — The KL High Court dismissed today a four-year-long defamation suit by Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing against Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat over an alleged RM10 million “donation” to MCA.

After meeting the lawyers in chambers, High Court judge SM Komathy Suppiah ruled to dismissed Tiong’s suit with cost, but did not state the reason.

“Finally, I’m totally vindicated,” Ong, the former MCA president, told reporters outside the courtroom.

The dispute began in 2009, when Ong filed a RM500 million defamation suit against Tiong for claiming he had donated RM10 million to MCA through the then MCA president.

Tiong stuck to his claim and counter-sued Ong for RM10 million.

The judge also set October 21 for case management for Ong’s RM500 million defamation suit against Tiong.

On September 23 this year, Ong testified in court to meeting Tiong on several occasions in 2008, but denied receiving the RM10 million “donation” for MCA from the former BN Backbenchers Club chairman.

Ong, the former Pandan MP, also denied that MCA was facing a financial crisis in 2008, as Tiong had claimed.

Tiong, who is in the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP), had said he “donated” the sum to rejuvenate the Chinese party in the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN).

Ong also testified that MCA’s assets was at least RM2 billion after the 12th general election in 2008.

Ong also pointed out that he was merely the third vice-president among six, at the time.
