RoS begins probe on MCA
Malay Mail

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 — The Registrar of societies (RoS) has initiated investigations into MCA.

RoS director-general Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman said this was following a report lodged by DAP last Wednesday after The Malay Mail had published its expose about the party’s Taman Tasik Jaya branch in Negri Sembilan a day earlier.

“The moment we receive a report, we must see if it has a locus standi (reported by a member of the organisation). In this case, the report was lodged by a third party (DAP) but under the Whistleblower Protection Act (2010) we took received the information and initiated investigations,” said Abdul Rahman.

“We will look into all claims raised and speak to the deputy chairman (Chong Fong) who is said to be a Gerakan member.”

Abdul Rahman said RoS’s standard of operation requires them to wrap up their investigation within six months after a report has been lodged and accepted.

He added RoS will be transparent in its investigation against MCA.

“It does not matter if an organisation is affiliated with Barisan Nasional or otherwise. Every organisation is subjected to the same rules. We not only strive to be fair but must also be seen to be fair,” he said.
