KUALA SELANGOR, Sept 24 — The next-of-kin of a dead man found on the banks of Sungai Tengi, Tanjong Karang here on September 10 have been told to contact police to claim the body.

Kuala Selangor police chief Supt Mohd Taib Ahmad said police were prepared to assist any parties who had missing family members on the date to identify the body which has not been claimed. 

He said there were no identification documents on the victim except for a silver chain with two lockets, of a Singapore Merlion and a letter L found in the back pocket of a pair of jeans the victim was wearing as well as some US currency.

“It is not clear if the victim was a local or foreigner as part of his shoulders and hands had decomposed and it is feared the victim could have been in the river for more than four days. Even his finger prints and BCG vaccination mark could not be detected.

“As such, members of the public with missing family members can contact Inspector Rozaini Rosmin at 012-3987056 or the Kuala Selangor police station to identify the body,” he told reporters here today.

On September 10, the body of a man was found on the banks of Sungai Tengi with his two hands tied at the back while his knees were secured with six pieces of bricks believed to drown the victim. — Bernama
