KOTA KINABALU, Sept 16 — A senior Parti Bersatu Sabah leader said the “reinvention” of the power-sharing formula among the Barisan Nasional components in Sabah is needed to enhance the people’s support for the ruling coalition, the Nation reported today.
PBS deputy president Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili, who is the Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister, said what was needed would be a formula that “is transparent, equitable and implementable”, according to the report.
“This reinvention is crucial for the future of Barisan as the political landscape has changed and people have more political choices,” he was quoted as saying when opening the PBS Sook division meeting in Keningau yesterday.
“This is to make sure all sections within the Barisan family are taken care of and feel they have a role to play by participating in the political and decision-making process, and to benefit from development.”
By doing so, Maximus said only those in the coalition would feel they were truly part of the family and this mechanism would attract people to Barisan’s struggle, said the report.
