Education Ministry: Every constituency should have community college

BESUT, Sept 8 — The Education Ministry wants a community college to be set up in every parliamentary constituency to provide a place for Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) leavers to go for vocational skill training.

Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the government introduced the 1College Community 1Parliament concept in view of the important role which the college could play in helping to provide skill training to the school leavers before they were to join the employment market.

In view of the current development, there was a need to provide vocational training for youths, he told reporters here.

He said there were currently 86 community colleges nationwide, with another to be set up in here next year. — Bernama
