PASIR PUTEH, Sept 5 — Police detained a 22-year-old suspect at a bus station, here, two days ago to help investigations into an armed robbery in which an employee of Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) was robbed of RM29,878 in Bachok, last week.

Pasir Puteh district police chief, DSP Mohd Kamal Zainal, said the suspect was detained following the arrest of two men, aged 34 and 26, in Bachok on Aug 27, believed to have been involved in a robbery after their car crashed in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Jelawat, Bachok, after robbing the AIM employee of the company's daily collection.

The unemployed suspect who lives in Kampung Danan, Bukit Tanah, here, was detained while waiting for a bus along with his 27-year-old girlfriend at about 9.30pm, Mohd Kamal told reporters here, today.

He said the suspect was attempting to escape to Kuala Lumpur after realising that he was wanted by the authorities here.

The man was handed over to the District Police Headquarters in Bachok, for further investigations. — Bernama
