KEMAMAN, Sept 3 — The charred body of a fisherman was found in his burnt-out boat in the Kemaman River opposite the Customs jetty here last night, police said today.

Kemaman Police chief Supt Che Suza Che Hitam said police found the body of Hussain Mohamad, 69, of Dusun Nyior here after being summoned at about 10pm over a burning fishing boat.

He said a preliminary investigation showed that the fire started from the engine of the boat but a forensics team was still conducting an investigation.

The body was sent to the Kemaman Hospital, he added.

Hussain’s wife Baharu Abdullah, 68, said her husband had not gone out to sea for a year but decided to do so last night. — Bernama
