JAKARTA, Aug 28 — Haze has resurfaced over Riau leading to disruption of flights in the Indonesian province over the last two days.

According to Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency, it said satellite monitoring detected 264 hotspots in Riau which was just one less than the 265 hotspots detected in the province on June 24.

The agency added that thick haze enveloping Kota Pekanbaru, the capital of the province, caused flight disruptions at its Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport.

“Only one flight was able to land at the airport in the past two days,” the agency said.

It added the agency was assisting its district counterpart in tackling the haze there including enlisting the use of water bombers. — Bernama
