KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali today withdrew the defamation suit he had brought against PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, according to the latter’s lawyer William Leong.

He said High Court Judicial Commissioner S.M. Komathy Suppiah, who heard the parties in chambers, allowed Ibrahim’s application and struck out the suit and made no order as to costs.

Ibrahim had filed the suit on June 2, 2010, claiming that Saifuddin had falsely and maliciously published defamatory remarks in the April 27 to May 4 edition of the Suara Keadilan newspaper to the effect that he (Ibrahim) was involved in the gaming business. — Bernama
