KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — A woman suffered burns on the face when a man riding pillion on a motorcycle, splashed acid in her direction at a traffic light intersection in Jalan Ampang here last night.

The 31-year-old victim, who was walking with a male friend, also suffered burns on the eyes in the incident opposite a shopping complex at 11.45pm.

The woman, who suffered 10 per cent burns on the face, was warded at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s intensive care unit.

Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Amiruddin Jamaluddin said the victim’s male friend told the police that the duo were on their way home when the assailant struck.

“Our initial investigations revealed the victim, who is single, does not have a boyfriend,” he told Bernama, via a short messaging service today.

He said the police would study footage of the closed-circuit television camera installed at the scene of the incident. — Bernama
