SHAH ALAM, Aug 2 — The Shah Alam High Court today sentenced a Nigerian to 10 years in jail and 10 strokes of the whip after he pleaded guilty to possessing 294.5 grammes of Methamphetamine at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang two years ago.  

Car spare parts dealer Uche Udoh, 22, who was initially charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death penalty, pleaded guilty to an alternative charge under Section 12 (2) of the same Act.

The drugs were found in the hollow handles of the two pieces of luggage he had brought into the country on Oct 8 2011.

Deputy public prosecutor Harris Ong Mohd Jeffery Ong conducted the prosecution while Udoh was represented by lawyer Leonard Gomes. 

Judge Datuk Abdul Alim Abdullah ordered the sentence to take effect from the date of his arrest on Oct 8 2011. – Bernama
