Khairy conveys condolences to Boon Huat’s family

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 — Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin expressed his condolences to the family of national hockey player Chua Boon Huat who was killed in a road accident in Kelana Jaya, Selangor, early today.

Khairy said Chua’s death was a major loss to national sports.

“On behalf of the ministry and government, I express my condolences to his family. Chua had brought much honour to the country in the field of hockey at the international stage. His services will be cherished forever,” he said before the start of question time in the Dewan Negara.

Chua, 33, died after his Proton Perdana car collided with a water tanker along the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) near the Kelana Jaya LRT station at 2.25 am. – Bernama
