Police identify suspect in Pasir Mas shooting

KOTA BARU, July 5 — The police have identified a man believed to be involved in the shooting of a teacher at Kubang Panjang, Pasir Mas, yesterday.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the 38-year-old suspect was believed to be involved in a drug trafficking syndicate and known by the victim.

Speaking to reporters after attending the 43rd Police Cadet Corps celebration at the Kelantan police Contingent headquarters here today, he urged those with information on the incident to come forward.

In the 12.15pm incident, a 35-year old male primary school teacher in Tumpat suffered a gunshot wound in the neck.

The teacher, who was from Kampung Tualang, Pasir Mas, was being treated at the Raja Perempuan Zainab II and his condition was reported to be stable. – Bernama
