SHAH ALAM, July 4 – The Selangor government has no plans to increase the allowance of its local authority councillors for now.
State Local Government, Studies and Research Committee chairman Datuk Teng Chang Khim said the state government was not giving attention to this issue as there were more important issues like waste disposal.
Teng was replying to a question from Lau Weng San (DAP-Kampung Tunku) at the state assembly sitting, here, today on the low allowance for local councillors which he felt should be increased in accordance with the times.
However, Teng said their allowance of RM150 per day was higher than the meeting allowance for state assemblymen, which was at RM75 per day each time. – Bernama
