KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 — The Air Pollutant Index (API) for locations in Malaysia continued to fluctuate, with the API at the unhealthy level in 21 places, moderate in 26 places and good in two places.
Port Dickson in Negri Sembilan had an API of 292 (very unhealthy) at 11am, down from 335 (hazardous) recorded at 7am, according to the Department of Environment (DoE).
The air pollution level is categorised as hazardous when the reading is 301 or more; very unhealthy at 201 to 300; unhealthy at 101 to 200; moderate at 51 to 100 and good at zero to 50.
The DoE reported that Port Klang in Selangor and Kemaman in Terengganu had an API of 288 and 253, respectively.
The situation in Muar, Johor, which had an API of 750 yesterday and an emergency was declared, improved to 132 today, better than the 148 this morning.
In the Klang Valley, the API for Batu Muda and Cheras saw a rise to 198 and 160, respectively. — Bernama
