KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — The Health Ministry will set up more haze operations rooms with sufficient medical equipment in all the affected districts, especially in Johor.

Its minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the move was taken following the worsening haze conditions that had reached hazardous levels, while close monitoring would begin immediately.

He advised the public not to carry out any outdoor activities unless unavoidable, to prevent getting haze-related illness.

“The clinics are also to be always ready for any eventuality while children, the elderly and those with asthma especially, should stay indoors.

“Most importantly, don’t carry out open burning as this will only worsen the haze situation,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Dr Subramaniam also advised individuals experiencing eye irritation, sore throat, coughing and breathing difficulty to immediately go to the nearest clinic for treatment.

He said the ministry was ready in dealing with the situation following hazardous air levels in Muar, Pasir Gudang and Kota Tinggi but until last night, there were no reports of residents experiencing haze-related illness. — Bernama
