MIRI, June 20 — An investigation is to be conducted into the case of a National Service (NS) Training Programme trainee who delivered a baby in the toilet of a training camp in Johor yesterday.
National Service Training Council (MLKN) chairman Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe said today the standard operating procedure prohibited anyone confirmed by a medical doctor to be pregnant from attending the training.
“I do not have the latest information on the case. We will find a solution so that this matter does not recur,” he told reporters after closing the training session of the second batch of the 10/2013 series at the Miri NS camp here.
The trainee gave birth to a baby boy in the toilet of the Sri Ledang NS camp in Jementah, Segamat, Johor, at 3am yesterday.
The camp management rushed the 18-year-old girl and the 2.7kg infant to the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital, but the baby died shortly afterwards.
Dr Tiki said trainees who were pregnant should notify the medical assistant and nurse on duty at the camps and not conceal the matter. — Bernama
