KENDARI (Indonesia), July 29 — Every time Tri Rama Dandi’s phone rings with a new ride request, the 26-year-old father faces a familiar choice: start his motorcycle and earn a living, or stay beside his one-year-old son.
The single father from Kolaka, South-east Sulawesi, has been raising his young child MA while working as an online motorcycle taxi driver – known colloquially as ojol – after his marriage ended in 2025, Indonesian news outlet Tribunnews Sultra reported this week.
“When an order comes in, I immediately turn on my motorcycle and go to deliver it,” he was quoted as saying.
Rama’s daily routine begins with the sound of incoming requests on his phone.
But while he spends his days transporting passengers, Rama’s most important passenger is waiting back at their modest rented room.
Rama lives with the toddler identified only as MA and has taken on the role of both breadwinner and caregiver, providing the affection and attention his child needs.
To make sure MA is safe, he keeps watch through a CCTV camera connected to his phone.
Footage from the father’s live-feed recently spread online in Indonesia and beyond, showing the boy lying down with a milk bottle next to the room door as if waiting for his father to return.
At times, MA can be seen peeking through the gap beneath the door, seemingly checking whether the footsteps outside belong to the father for whom he is waiting.
The emotional video has drawn attention from social media users, who were touched by the bond between the young father and his child.
For Rama, the CCTV is more than a security device — it is a way to stay connected with his son while he works to provide for their small family.
