KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 ― It’s a sad time for Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and his family.

"Toby, my beloved cat has left us,” he tweeted just hours ago.

"So sudden. So sad. I miss him so much.

"Thank you for being there for me in the toughest of times. May you rest well in cat heaven.”

Members of the public were quick to offer their condolences on social media.

"Did he die of old age? He’s been a good companion to you. Sorry for your loss,” a Twitter user commented.

"A loss of a member of the family. So sorry for your loss,” said another.

"I know how it feels...keep strong YB,” said a third.

A self-proclaimed cat lover, Syed Saddiq made headlines last year when he included his two beloved cats, Toby and Meow Meow as part of his invaluable assets in an asset declaration.

"I own two cats, Toby and Meow Meow. This is important, ok,” he told reporters at the time.

"Since my cats are a gift from my brother and my friend from 2018 and 2019, I am going to declare them as my valuables because they are invaluable to me.”
