KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 — A 25-year-old Thai drug lord failed to escape from the long arm of the law despite undergoing numerous plastic surgeries and changing his name.
Sarahat Sawangjaeng, who changed his name to Jimin Cheong to suit his new Korean look, was arrested by police at a posh condominium in the Bang Na district of Bangkok on Friday, Thaiger reported.
According to the portal, police could not recognise Sarahat when they stormed the condominium unit to arrest him as his looks had completely changed after undergoing many operations over the years.
The plan to arrest Sarahat was set in motion on December 2 when a court issued an arrest warrant against him after police tracked a parcel containing drugs to the man.
However, police could not locate the man until an undercover police officer pretended to be interested in working as a drug mule for Sarahat in Bangkok and managed to get in contact with him.
When found by police, none of Sarahat’s original face was left.
He has since admitted to importing drugs from European countries into Thailand by ordering via the dark web and paying with Bitcoin before selling it to customers in Bangkok and its surrounding areas.
