COPENHAGEN, July 2 — The Danish furniture company Republic of Fritz Hansen has announced the launch of a new two-seater version of its famous "Ro” lounge chair designed by Jaime Hayon.

Anyone who liked the curved shape and colours of the famous "Ro” lounge chair will be interested in its new version which is just as comfortable, but has room for two people. The "Ro” sofa is upholstered in two fabrics (one for the shell and one for the cushions) and the legs are available in brushed aluminium or solid oak (prices start at €4,780/RM23,454). The sofa comes in red, light grey, dark grey, blue or green.

The "Ro” lounge chair was launched back in April 2013. It was designed as a space to temporarily escape from the rest of the world (its name means tranquillity in Danish).

Republic of Fritz Hansen was founded by the cabinet-maker Fritz Hansen in Copenhagen, Denmark. The family firm initially furnished public buildings and gradually moved towards what is now known as Scandinavian design. Its most famous pieces, such as the "Drop” chair and the "Ant” chair, are the work of designer Arne Jacobsen.

The designer Jaime Hayon was born in Madrid in 1974. He is known for his creations midway between art and design. His work has been produced by big-name groups such as Cassina, Fritz Hansen, Magis and Swarovski. — AFP-Relaxnews
