WASHINGTON, March 16 — Did White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer really turn up for work on Monday wearing mismatched shoes?

Twitter erupted when Spicer was snapped standing in front of the White House apparently wearing one black and one brown shoe.

This is, after all, the same man who isn’t immune to wardrobe faux pas such as when he wore his Stars and Stripes flag pin upside down at a press briefing last week.

Upon closer inspection, however, it turned out that Spicer had neither gotten dressed in the dark that day nor decided to have a head-start on Fall/Winter 2017 trends a la Celine.

The reason was a far more practical one: Spicer was merely wearing a foot brace.
