SINGAPORE, Nov 10 — SGAG, a site that posts gag videos featuring a Singaporean slant, posted a parody of a popular BBC Earth clip of an iguana escaping snakes that has gone viral.

The hilarious video uses a mix of English and Hokkien with some Malay words thrown in, which is typical of Singaporean English, also known as Singlish.

The ‘Ah Beng’ spin on the video started off by equating the iguana in the video to an office worker who is trying to escape work the moment office hours are over, but faces obstacles along the way.

"This chao keng (slacker) si ka zhua (lizard) is in office waiting for 6pm to pang kang (finish work),” the voiceover stated as you see a snake creeping up on the iguana.

The voiceover continues, "6pm liao, zao ah! (It’s 6pm, run!)”

"He chiong past the pantry, now he chionging towards the office door, almost make it liao. (He rushed past the pantry, now he’s rushing towards the office door, he almost made it.)

With a clever play on words, the video continues, "Will he get to jiak zua (literally means to eat snake, also means to slack off) or will the zua jiak (snake eat) him?”

As the iguana is caught by a knot of snakes but manages to escape, the voiceover exclaimed, "Oh my tian! Oh my tian! Ah zua managed to siam the sai kang! (Oh my god! Oh my god! The lizard/slacker managed to avoid the unpleasant work!)

"Wah (this ah zua) damn good sia, normally IPPT damn cui, now climb the stairs macam ninja warrior! (Wah, this lizard is damn good, normally it fails its Individual Physical Proficiency Test, now it’s climbing the stairs like a ninja warrior!)”

As the iguana evaded another lunge from a snake and reached the peak, the voiceover continued, "Reach the office door already, can smell freedom liao. Pang kang (end work) lo!”

The funny video ended with the iguana reaching the safety of the mountaintop with the comment, "This is the gan exciting story of a si kah zua that likes to jiak zhua (This is the exciting story of a lizard likes to slack off).”

The video, posted yesterday, has gone viral, netting almost 900,000 views on Facebook at the time of writing.

An Australian, expletive-ridden version of the video, posted by Ozzy Man Reviews on Facebook on Tuesday has also gone viral, netting over 6.5 million views on Facebook.
