NEW YORK, July 28 — Almost 20 years after the first recording of the Pokémon theme song, US singer Jason Paige walked back into the studio to deliver this blast from the past — and totally nails it!
When the 47-year-old first did the demo, he had no idea just how iconic his voice would be to the many generations of fans of the Japanese anime.
"I didn’t really know much about Pokemon when I did the demo, other than [that] a scene in the cartoon caused a giant bout of epileptic seizures in Japan”, according to a quote on his Wikipedia page.
Paige uploaded a video recently of himself singing the song this year and though his performance was highly entertaining, comments left by Reddit and YouTube users accusing Paige of lip-synching was aplenty.

"Great song, but I wish this was more of a live version — this is basically just a lip-sync video to his own song,” a YouTube user by the name of Kannibal said.
Another YouTube user Marlowe commented: "Look’s a lot like he’s lip syncing and I really think his voice would sound different than it did in 92. Would love to hear a 2016 version.”
Regardless of the controversy surrounding his 2016 remake of this iconic theme song, we can all agree that this song sends you right back to your childhood days and will perhaps make you want to whip out your phone to catch ‘em all when Pokemon Go finally reaches our shores.
