LONDON, June 1 — She may be 90, but that’s not stopping Queen Elizabeth from striking a pose on the front cover of Vanity Fair, with her royal canine companions in tow!
The Queen will feature as the cover girl of the latest edition of the magazine with an accompanying article, titled ‘Her Inner Majesty’. The shot, taken by iconic fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz, shows the Queen seated with her four beloved corgis and dorgis.
Holly and Willow are a part of the Queen’s legendary corgi “dynasty” Vulcan and Candy are dorgis, which is a crossbreed that came about when one of the Queen’s corgis mated with a dachshund that belonged to her sister, Princess Margaret.
The picture was taken at the Queen’s home at Windsor Castle, in honour of her 90th birthday which took place in April. According to E! News, the idea to pose with the canines was thought up by the Queen herself.
“She wanted to be photographed with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh; her daughter, Anne, the Princess Royal; and her corgis,” a source was quoted as saying.
The Duke of Edinburgh also posed with the Queen for the photographer and the picture will appear in the magazine, out on Friday, alongside the three official images.
