BASEL, March 2 — Ahead of the upcoming Baselworld watch and jewelry fair, which runs March 17-24, 2016, in Basel, Switzerland, the French watchmaker has previewed a new version of its sporty automatic chronograph from the Newport Yacht Club collection. This new model is due out this month.
A sporty yet chic chronograph
For this 2016 version, Michel Herbelin has brought a sporty but chic style to the “Newport Yacht Club Automatic Chronograph.” With a particularly elegant design for this kind of watch, this understated chronograph is a suitable accessory for daytime and evening looks.
The 43.5mm stainless steel case is finished in gray anthracite PVD, which is lifted by a rose gold PVD bezel with a tachymeter scale for measuring speeds from 50 to 400 km/h.
The deep black dial has a brushed finish and features luminescent beveled indices. The hour and minute hands also have a luminescent white finish, ensuring optimal visibility even in low light or poor conditions.
Six practical functions
This watch uses the Swiss-made Sellita SW500 caliber self-winding mechanical movement and has hours, minutes, seconds, date, chronograph and tachymeter functions. It’s water-resistant to 100 meters and has a 42-hour power reserve.
Subdials counting hours, seconds and minutes are found at 6, 9 and 12 o’ clock. The date window is positioned at 3 o’clock.
The watch comes with a black elastogator strap — made from crocodile-effect rubber with a synthetic fabric lining —- with white stitching and a double folding clasp.
