LOS ANGELES, Jan 19 — Think the Force is strong with you, strong enough for you to fork out £200,000 (RM1.25 million) for the blaster Luke Skywalker used in The Empire Strikes Back?

The DL-44 Blaster was used by Mark Hamill’s character in the 1980 movie and is in original filming condition. According to the UK Mirror, it’s the exact model used by Harrison Ford’s character in the first Star Wars film and was custom-made by making a cast of it.

Sam Heller from the Nate D. Sanders auction house in Los Angeles had this to say about the blaster: “This is a very rare and desirable piece of ‘Star Wars’ history. The recently released ‘Star Wars’ flick, ‘The Force Awakens’, is on pace to become the highest-grossing film of all-time.

“And Luke Skywalker is one of the most beloved cinematic characters of all-time. Collectors will cherish Skywalker’s Blaster Gun, which was used in the Rebel Alliance’s battle against the evil Galactic Empire.”

The blaster is expected to become the most expensive Star Wars prop ever sold when it comes up for auction on January 28.

The record for best-selling screen weapon is currently held by Harrison Ford’s pistol from Blade Runner that was sold in 2009 for about US$256,000 (RM 1.12 million). Luke’s lightsaber hilt went for about US$189,000 when it was sold in 2008.
