NEW YORK, Oct 29 — Not only is Harley Quinn set to make waves with her role in the upcoming "Suicide Squad" movie, but according to Google, the superhero is also in line to be the number one Halloween costume in the US this year. If you're one of the wannabes, then here's how to nail the makeup look.

The first thing to do is mimic Quinn's whiter-than-white skin tone. According to YouTube vlogger and makeup artist Madeyewlook by Lex, the best way to achieve this is by using white body paint on the face for a bright, opaque effect. She suggests painting the color on with a brush, before using black body paint to cover the right ear and red paint for the left. Beauty vlogger Miranda Hedman provides a subtler alternative in her online tutorial, which focuses on recreating Margot Robbie's take on the look in the upcoming Hollywood movie, using Mehron Paradise Makeup in 'AQ — White' for slightly lighter coverage, painted down to the collarbone.

For the eyes, Lex covers the eyelids with body paint before setting it with a white shadow and running a liquid black liner along the lash line for contrast, developing it into an elongated winged cat-eye. She then uses black body paint to outline and fill in a mask, using grey eyeshadow to create a shadow effect along her cheekbones and temples. Hedman, however, applies a pink shadow from the E.L.F. 'Day to Night' Eyeshadow Palette to the right eye and dabs the color vertically down across her cheekbone with her finger, before repeating the action on the left side with a mid-blue shade. She then defines the eyes with winged liner, using MAC's Fluidline in 'Blacktrack', finished off by a few coats of Maybelline 'Colossal Go Extreme Volume Mascara', on both the top and bottom lashes. She suggests using L'Oreal's 'Brow Artist Genius Kit' to create an arched brow to frame the eyes.

Both makeup artists agree that Quinn's lips require a deep ruby red, with Lex mixing black and red body paints for a dark look and using a fine brush to create pointed edges in the center and at each side of the mouth. Hedman opts for an NYX Lipliner Pencil in 'Auburn' to color in the pout, before finishing off with a lick of Dermosil Lip Gloss in 'Jewel Red'. A few tattoos drawn on with black eyeliner complete the Marvel effect. — AFP-Relaxnews
