LOS ANGELES, Sept 2 — Johnny Depp’s new campaign for the Dior fragrance, Sauvage, has dropped — and it’s all rather over the top.

The moody advertisement starts with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star strumming on a guitar, before jumping into a vintage Dodge Charger and roaring out of Los Angeles to Joshua Tree, California, seemingly on a mission.

After crossing paths with a bison, an eagle and a wolf, he walks into the desert with a spade in hand.

In the voiceover, Depp muses, “What am I looking for? I can feel it — it’s magic.”

The ad is directed by Jean Baptiste Mondino, with music by slide guitar specialist Ry Cooder.

In a press release, Dior said perfumer François Demachy revisited the original fragrance, created in 1966, and sought to make it more contemporary, strong and unmistakably masculine. 

Dior’s other beauty ambassadors include Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Pattinson and Eva Herzigova.

Depp isn’t the first one in his family to land a campaign this season: His 16-year-old daughter Lily-Rose Depp appears in a Chanel eyewear campaign.
