SINGAPORE, July 12 — Fitness buffs rejoice. The popular Reebok Spartan Race will debut in Singapore on November 15.

Founded in 2010, it has since been held in 25 countries across six continents, with Singapore as the latest addition. The event is co-organised by MediaCorp.

“Singapore is a world-class venue with a unique urban, island city terrain that will offer our athletes an exciting new course against which to test themselves,” said Joe De Sena, co-founder and chief executive officer of Reebok Spartan Race.

“We are really happy with our partnership with Reebok Spartan Race and even more excited that we will have Joe with us, coaching and guiding our team in the race management,” said Jessie Sng, head of women’s, men’s & parents customer group, MediaCorp.

The Reebok Spartan Race comprises three races at different distances: The 5km and 22-obstacle Sprint, the 12km and 25-obstacle Super and the 16km and 33-obstacle Beast.

More than one million participants are expected to compete in the 240 race legs this year, which culminates in the annual Reebok Spartan World Championship.

The Singapore leg will comprise the Obstacle Sprint race.

For the first time in Asia, there will also be a Spartan Junior Race. Children aged four to eight can take part in a 500m, six-obstacle race, while those aged nine to 13 can compete in a 1km, six-obstacle race.
