KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 — Uniqlo today announced the launch of a modest wear collection with the release of campaign pictures featuring acclaimed singer-songwriter Yuna Zarai.
The collection was created in collaboration with Hana Tajima, whose modern, functional designs are popular for being both culturally sensitive and extremely comfortable.
The UK-born fashion designer and blogger is the perfect match up with Uniqlo’s LifeWear concept, which espouses the same philosophy.
The inaugural range will include stylish headscarves, relaxed jeans, blouses and long dresses, as well as AIRism hijab innerwear headscarves and headbands.
Chief Executive Officer of Uniqlo Malaysia, Taku Morikawa, said, “The Hana Tajima collection is a further extension of our LifeWear concept in making fashionable, high quality products for anyone, anywhere, to enhance lifestyles. We worked with Hana to develop something with international appeal, while maintaining the concept of modest clothing. The result is not only stylish, but comfortable.”
Hana Tajima added, “We wanted to create a collection for women who appreciate modesty as a lifestyle, as well as a broader international audience. It is relaxed, and can be mixed and matched to enhance style.”
This is the latest in a long line of successful collaborations for the Japanese high-street retailer.
German fashion designer Jil Sander and French style icons Ines de la Fressage and Carine Roitfeld are among those with Uniqlo collaborations to their name.
On the homefront, Malaysian designers Joe Chia and Jonathan Liang have produced graphic tees for the Feel the Sea Collection.
The Uniqlo x Hana Tajima Collection will be available at all Uniqlo stores in Malaysia from July 3. Prices range from RM19.90 to RM149.90.
