PARIS, May 24 — Fashionable furniture brand Roche Bobois has collaborated with the artist Micka on a range of interiors based on optical illusions as part of its 2014 autumn collection.

The ‘Opto’ collection is based on the idea of movement and features façades with slightly different motifs superimposed 2 centimetres apart. So the surface of the furniture changes, depending on your perspective.

The collection comprises sideboards, dressers and tallboys, each featuring a different façade based on circular, linear or wavy patterns. The thickness of the graphic lines can be adjusted to alter the aesthetic.

Multidisciplinary artist Micka is known for his work within the ‘Op Art’ movement and has collaborated on projects for everything from fabric design to fragrances. Opto is his first collection for Roche Bobois.

The range was unveiled at the DDays design festival in Paris this week. Additional optical illusion-themed pieces in the brand’s autumn collection include the Bosco table by Renaud Thiry and the Paysage table by Fabrice Berrux.

The designs will be available to purchase from September. — AFP-Relaxnews
