SINGAPORE, April 6 — Restaurant Andre has done it again.
Last year, chef-owner Andre Chiang made the news when his innovative Bukit Pasoh establishment climbed 14 places to claim the 32nd spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
And in a ceremony on Melbourne, Australia, yesterday, Restaurant Andre jumped up by a whopping 18 places to land at No. 14.
"I feel very blissful to be recognised with (the) other 49 most influential chefs on earth that (are) leading the trend,” said Taiwan-born Chiang in a statement, posted on the Restaurant Andre website.
"Our cuisine might be different but we (are) committed to pushing the boundary of the culinary world. This award is dedicated to my enduring team. I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition with a sense of heartfelt gratitude; it would not have been possible without their support and encouragement.”
This marks the seventh year that Restaurant Andre is on the list. Chiang has had a landmark year — Restaurant Andre is listed at No. 2 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, and his Taiwan venture, Raw, sits at No. 24 on that same list.
Restaurant Andre is the only Singapore restaurant in the top 50. Burnt Ends and Odette are in the top 100, at No. 53 and No. 87 respectively. — TODAY
