Is a durian-flavoured KitKat really on the way?

BANGKOK, March 21 — For many Malaysians, it is probably a case of ‘Why didn't anyone think of this before?’

And chances are, if true, the rumoured durian-flavoured KitKat will be a bone fide home run here.

Thailand’s Daily News reported that the Thai government is currently looking into potential new KitKat flavours with manufacturers, Nestle, in a bid to boost tourism.

Thai Minister for Tourism and Sports Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul was quoted as saying that the top flavour on the table is durian.

If Nestle doesn’t bite, he added that tamarind and mangosteen had also been suggested.

If a durian-flavoured KitKat were to be launched, it actually wouldn’t be the craziest version of the chocolate bar out there (not to us Malaysians anyway). After all, durian-flavoured chocolates are already commonly sold in South-east Asia, including Malaysia.
