NEW YORK, Aug 9 ― What happens when a Burger King Whopper collides with a burrito? You get the "Whopperito”, naturally.

After trialing the hybrid burger-burrito in select markets across the US earlier this summer, Burger King is poised to unleash their latest fast-food gimmick nationwide from August 15, reports Bloomberg.

As its name suggests, the "Whopperito” wraps signature "Whopper” ingredients like beef, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and pickles inside a flour tortilla, and replaces the mayonnaise with a queso sauce and Tex-Mex seasoning.

The move takes conspicuous aim at Chipotle's fan base and the continued popularity of Tex-Mex fast food.

When fast food lovers got wind of the hybrid creation in June, they couldn't seem to decide if they liked it or not, with some calling it out as just a wrap sandwich, and others applauding the innovation.

BK has been busy developing bold and headline-grabbing menu launches in an effort to keep up with the fast food wars.
