NEW YORK, June 7 — If you’re looking for a twist to your regular banana bread, you might want to take a look at this upside down banana bread recipe.
In this clip from YouTube channel Tasty, you’ll learn how easy it is to prepare this delicious treat which is great for anytime of the day.
You’ll need these ingredients for this recipe that serves six: 4-5 ripe bananas, 3 eggs, 1/2 cup of oil, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tbsp ground cinnamon, 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup of butter, 1 cup of brown sugar, 2-3 sliced bananas and vanilla ice cream for topping.
Before you begin, preheat the oven to 350°F/175C. Mash the ripe bananas in a large bowl and then add the eggs, oil, sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well until evenly incorporated. Add the flour and mix the batter well so there are no floor lumps. Set aside.
Melt the butter in a pot over low heat and then mix in the brown sugar until dissolved. Then increase the heat to medium, cooking until the mixture starts bubbling. When ready, remove the caramel from the heat and pour into a greased 9x9 baking pan.
Lay the banana slices evenly on top of the caramel, be careful not to touch the hot caramel while doing this. Spread the banana bread batter over this and bake for 40-50 minutes.
To turn over the cake, leave to cool and use a knife to loosen the edges from the pan. Place a plate upside-down on top of the pan, then invert the pan, flipping the banana bread onto the plate. Slice and serve with the ice cream. Enjoy!
