HANOI, May 24 — Who better to hook you up with a tasty meal when you’re headed to parts unknown than celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain?
That’s exactly who Barack Obama looked up on his first day in Vietnam yesterday.
Bourdain tweeted that they dined for US$6 (RM24) on bún chả, grilled pork and noodle in Hanoi.
He also praised Obama’s chopstick skills on Instagram, writing: “The President’s chopstick skills are on point.”
But what did they talk about?
You’ll have to wait for a future episode of Bourdain’s CNN programme Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown, the network announced yesterday.
It is understood the episode will centre on the country’s culinary culture and common ground with the United States.
“Their conversation will be featured in an upcoming episode of Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown, returning for its eighth season in September,” a CNN spokesperson said.
“Bourdain will explore the purpose of the President’s trip and his interest in the people, food and culture of Vietnam.”
Obama stayed overnight in Hanoi before travelling to Ho Chi Minh City today to wrap his official three-day visit to Vietnam as part of his trip to Asia.
