NEW YORK, Sept 18 — After McDonald’s snubbed Burger King’s proposal to create a “McWhopper” for Peace Day, BK has found allies in four other brands to create an epic sandwich that is conspicuously absent of McDonald’s ‘special sauce.’

Instead, the epic burger is a mash-up of signature sandwiches from Giraffas, Krystal, Denny’s and Wayback Burgers, who reached out to BK when McDonald’s rebuffed their idea in a high-profile publicity stunt.

What was supposed to be a McWhopper has become the Peace Day Burger, a sandwich made up of about a dozen ingredients that include two beef patties, two different cheeses, ham, bacon, lettuce, onions, pickles and tomatoes.

About 1,500 sandwiches will be made and handed out for free at a pop-up restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia on the UN-backed Peace Day, September 21 between 11am to 6pm.

Participating burger chains will also be making donations to the charity Peace One Day.

Last month, BK took out a full-page ad in The New York Times calling for a temporary ceasefire with their archrival McDonald’s “in the name of peace.”

“Let’s end the beef, with beef,” the ad read.

McDonald’s response was glacial, with CEO Steve Easterbrook backhandedly pooh-poohing the idea on Facebook, calling the proposal a glib response to the real pain and suffering of war.

“A simple phone call will do next time,” he wrote.

Peace Day is a day of ceasefire. The charity Peace One Day is working to expose three billion people to the campaign by 2016.
