Chilli pepper heat is measured on the Scoville scale in SHU.

The current record holder is known as the Carolina Reaper, measured at 1.5 million to 2.2 million SHU.

In comparison, the bird’s eye chilli, also locally known as cili padi, is measured at 100,000 to 250,000 SHU.
