LONDON, May 23 — For the first time this year, diners can vote for their favourite restaurant in a new People’s Poll category at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards.

Ahead of the gala event June 1 in London, organisers of the influential gastronomic awards have announced that they have opened up the competition to the public in a new category meant to reflect the people’s choice.

Voters can have their say in an online survey that asks diners to name their favourite dining experience and to explain their choice.

Participating voters will also have the chance to win two tickets to the event.
