LOS ANGELES, June 21 — Wine buyers may be able shave some time in the liquor aisles with the help of a powerful revamped wine app that provides ratings, tasting notes and descriptions via real-time label recognition.
Called Delectable, the updated wine app has the stamp of approval from wine expert Jancis Robinson, who called the label-recognition app a reliable, accurate “brilliant piece of programming”.
Here’s how it works: Users take a photo of the wine label and get instant identification — averaging 2.6 seconds — of the wine maker, wine name, grapes and region.
Ratings and reviews are available from both professionals — winemakers, sommeliers and wine journalists — and the Delectable community.
The latest updates also allow users to add favourite bottles to a digital album, add ratings, tag friends, locations and make wine purchases.
While several label-recognition wine apps exist — Vivino, Wine-searcher, Cor.kz — JancisRobinson.com heaped unrestrained praise on Delectable, calling it the best on the market.
“It defeats every other label-recognition app on the market for one simple reason: it identified every label 100 per cent accurately with no corrections required.” — AFP-Relaxnews
