Foodpanda.my to broaden services to Sabah, Sarawak in Q1 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 ― Foodpanda.my, which provides online food delivery services for over 300 restaurants including Starbucks, Tony Roma’s and Chicken Rice Shop, expects to expand its services to Sabah and Sarawak, including Brunei, in the first quarter of this year.

Foodpanda.my Founder and Managing Director Claudio Abitante said the company is still doing some research on the targeted customers, hoping that the demand there is as high as in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore.

“We are aggressive in expanding our markets and thorough plans should be outlined first before we decide to start and provide our services there,” he told Bernama.

He said the decision to introduce the services in the first quarter of this year to those regions was a good move as the company had launched its services in most of the main cities in the peninsula by the end of last year.

Abitante also said the expansion of its services to Sabah and Sarawak this year would not only give benefits to the local people to enjoy the services but also provide job opportunities among the people.

“Foodpanda.my also received feedback from the people in the regions, wondering when they can start enjoying our services...This is a good sign for us,” he said.

In Peninsular Malaysia, Abitante said the company received more than 100 orders daily since it introduced the services in the Klang Valley in March last year, which proved that the number of customers is increasing.

Foodpanda.my, founded in February 2012, together with its affiliated brands hellofood and hungrypanda, is the leading group of online food ordering platforms that is active in over 30 countries including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and Singapore. ― Bernama
