LONDON, Jan 8 — The specialist auction house, Silverstone Auctions, is set to host no fewer than nine competition and classic car sales during 2018, but the one that's likely to create the greatest interest is a dedicated Ferrari sale to be conducted at the famed Silverstone circuit.

The auction house will be holding the sale in collaboration with the prestigious Ferrari Owners' Club of Great Britain. And this inaugural, Ferrari-only event is to be held on Friday May 18, just ahead of its May Sale the following day that Silverstone Auctions holds every year.

Nick Whale, the managing director of Silverstone Auctions, explains, "The Ferrari Sale is a brand new auction for our 2018 calendar and one that we're certain will be very well received by both vendors and collectors alike.

"We're very proud to be collaborating with the Ferrari Owners' Club of Great Britain, one of the most expert and respected international car clubs in the world. We'll be looking to source the very finest and collectible Ferraris to offer at this special, inaugural event.”

The first of the auction house's sales for 2018 will be at the Race Retro International Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh Park in the UK. The sale will include a strictly limited number of best of breed cars from the road and track to be sold during a classic and sports car sale event February 23-25.

The auctioneers will return to the circuit after the Ferrari and annual May sales for what's considered its flagship event at the world famous Silverstone Classic in July. Once again, the auction house will be hosting a dedicated competition car-only sale on July 19, just ahead of a two-day classic and sports car sale to be conducted on July 21 and 22.

But if a Porsche is more your style than a Ferrari or a competition car, Silverstone Auctions will also be hosting a dedicated Porsche sale in September in conjunction with the Porsche Club GB, which is to be held at the prestigious Dallas Burston Polo Club in Warwickshire in the UK. — AFP-Relaxnews
