JAKARTA, Feb 19 — The Proton Iriz is now officially in Indonesia. Proton Holdings Berhad, through its subsidiary in Indonesia, Pt Proton Edar Indonesia (PEI) launched the Iriz at FX Sudirman Mall Senayan today. The Iriz has been on display in the Mall since February 16, 2017, at a roadshow that will end on February 22, 2017.
The launch was officiated by Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, CEO of Proton. Also present was Datuk Madani Sahari, CEO of Malaysia Automotive Institute, Mohd Khalid Yusof, Director of Transformation and head of International Sales, Proton, Naim Abdul Rahman, Matrade Advisor at the Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia, and Yanuarto Widihandono, Secretary General of Indonesia Otomotif Institute.
Indonesian media have already previewed the Iriz and have participated in a test drive held on February 9, 2017. PEI will be introducing the Iriz in Jakarta and Makassar, Sulawesi.
Indonesia is the second country after Brunei to import the Iriz, and two variants will be made available in Indonesia, the 1.3L MT Standard (Manual) and the 1.3L CVT Standard, priced at 175,250,000 rupiah (RM58,484) and 185,283,000 rupiah respectively.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Fuaad said, "Proton Iriz is well equipped in terms of safety features. Both variants are fitted with active and passive safety features. In fact, Iriz is the only compact hatchback (in the) City Car segment below IDR350 million that is equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Coupled with traction control, anti-locking braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), brake assist, hill hold assist (HHA) and a seat belt reminder (SBR) system. These safety features are usually installed in the higher end premium cars. In addition, Proton also (uses) Hot Press Forming (HPF) steel technology from Germany to heighten the safety features of the car. The HPF steel provides up to five times more strength than normal steel for higher body rigidity to strengthen the cabin to give better protection to the passengers.”
"Indonesia is an important market for Proton. Not only have we maintained strong G2G relations being Asean founding members, but we also share many similarities in terms of people, language, (and) culture as well as in the weather. It’s almost an extension of each other,” added Fuaad.
PEI is supported by a total of 25 sales and after sales outlets in Indonesia. From February 20, the Iriz will be at all showrooms.
